Understanding Spread Betting

Spread betting can be applied to any event that has a final result; however traditionally it has been used for sports events and financial predictions.

This type of betting is different from conventional fixed odds betting in that it enables you to make a bet on whether a particular predication made by the bookmakers (for example, how many goals will be scored in a certain match) has been pitched too high or too low. If you are right - you win; the further away from the bookmaker's prediction the actual result is, the more you win. However, the converse is also true: if you guess wrong; the further away the actual result from the original prediction, the more you will lose.

In this section, we take a look at how spread betting works, its different variations, and how it works in the sporting and financial world.
