Odds
The ratio of potential winnings to stake offered by a bookmaker. The odds represent the chance of your selection winning. So an odds of 4/1 (described as 4 to 1) means that the bookmaker thinks there is a 1 in 5 chance of winning. For every £1 you bet at these odds, you will receive £4 profit.
Odds can be expressed as a fraction, (as in our example of 4/1) or as a decimal. 4/1 is expressed as a decimal odds of 5.0, in which case you just multiply the decimal form of the odds by your stake to find out your total winnings (including your stake).
