Each Way (EW)

A bet that combines a win and place on the same selection. When you bet each way (E/W), you bet the same amount of money on the selection to win, at the stated odds, and on the selection getting a place (usually in the top three or four positions).

If the selected runner wins both the win and place dividend are paid. If it is placed, the dividend only will be paid.

The price for the 'placed' component of the bet is usually 1/4 of the odds for an outright win.
